About Us

Money Mentors is the only not-for-profit credit counselling and money coaching organization deeply rooted in the Alberta landscape.

When we started as Credit Counselling Services of Alberta in 1997, our goal was to help Albertans with overwhelming debt.  As the only provider of the government-approved Orderly Payment of Debts program, we have helped thousands of Albertans become debt free.

The Government of Alberta privatized the Orderly Payment of Debts program in 1997 by funding Money Mentors (known as Credit Counselling Services of Alberta at the time) to administer the program.  Within five years, Money Mentors was self-sufficient, no longer receiving any government money.  While we have some fees for our services, we receive most of our funding through a fee charged to the creditors we help recover debts.

After the success of the Orderly Payment of Debts program, we realized there are many other Albertans who need help meeting their financial goals.  We developed Personal Money Coaching to offer unbiased advice without the investment sales pitch.

Money Mentors' friendly, qualified and experienced team of personal and family financial experts includes Accredited Financial Counsellors, Professional Home Economists, and Certified Financial Planners who can explain all the options available and help you get the most out of your money.

Money Mentors is a founding member and first accredited member of Credit Counselling Canada and an A+ status member of The Better Business Bureau.
