Money Mentors Protests the Endangerment of the Slot-Back Pig
Calgary, Alberta, Canada – Money Mentors is holding a protest in downtown Calgary (marching along Stephen Ave & Olympic Plaza) on Thursday, May 29th from 7:30AM – 1:30PM, to raise awareness about unbiased financial coaching services available to Albertans interested in finding ways to save, invest and better manage their money. The protest will feature representatives from Money Mentors marching with signs, and shouting, “Save the Slot-Back Pig!” and “Give your money a chance!”
“Albertans are earning more money than ever before, yet the desire, skills and knowledge to save and effectively manage money is all but disappearing,” said Tracy Watson, Director of Communications, for Money Mentors, a division of CCSA (Credit Counselling Services of Alberta ) “We want Albertans to know that even if they feel they can’t afford financial coaching or aren’t in dire straits, Money Mentors can help them plan for a secure financial future and still enjoy the fun things in life.”
The “Save the Slot-Back Pig” campaign began a year ago and included online marketing, radio, television, brochures, transit posters and bus boards. The print campaign included photographs of piggy-banks (or Slot-Back Pigs) in nature with messaging around these “…cute little prairie critters being hunted almost to extinction for their hidden treasures.”
“We feel very strongly about this cause and need to dispel the myth, believed by Albertans, that the innards of the piggy-bank will increase their short-term happiness,” said one of the protesters. “Saving the Slot-Back Pig will benefit every Albertan and our society as a whole.”
Money Mentors teaches average and above average income earners the basics on achieving financial goals, mortgages, retirement, the wise use of credit, debt resolution and more. Money Mentorshas been offering money management programs to Albertans for 11 years, providing them with the tools they need to avoid money pitfalls and plan for long-term financial success.
